About Jen Scarpati
I'm a mother of two boys, an attorney, and I'm passionate about both community service and education.
A wise person once said to me: "No one can ever take away someone's education," and I take that very seriously. Schooling can and should be a youngster's most valuable asset, and I believe that no child's economic status should determine his or her academic trajectory. No child should walk into school fearing the stigma of having inadequate school supplies. No child should be expected to excel in school without the proper tools.
Prior to co-founding Project Readiness with Annie Peters, I worked to pair children with backpacks full of age-appropriate school supplies through Volunteers of America's Operation Backpack in NYC, and through a grassroots effort at Nourish NJ. In working with Nourish NJ, I was struck at the magnitude of the need in Morris County and Project Readiness was born.

About Annie Peters
I am passionate about helping others, particularly children, and am so excited to make Project Readiness a reality.
Growing up in Mountain Lakes, NJ, my parents highly valued education, kindness and helping others. Starting as a teenager, and continuing through my early adult years, I volunteered with children in various school settings, where I could see the importance of having adequate school supplies.
I attended the University of Oregon and then spent many years in New York City in the fashion industry. Since having kids and moving back to New Jersey, I have sought out ways for my family to get involved in community service. We have worked with many programs, including a family domestic violence shelter and the backpack drive for Morristown Community Soup Kitchen. When Jen suggested teaming up to grow the backpack drive to reach even more children throughout New Jersey I leapt at the opportunity.
I am a mom to three active boys. When I am not running after them, I am an avid runner and triathlete.
